Hometown Demographics

The city of lauderhill have been steady increase over the last two census, that was taken in the 1990's. The population was 49,708, and in 2000 it increase to 57,585, now in 2008 in again increase 65,757. although sister city like Sunrise and Plantation have reach about 90,000. When in the city early begining it was a jewish settlement and a second home for snowbirds. But now it is mostly populated by West Indians and African American. it still have a sizeable amount of jewish, white and hispanic resident, which live mostly in the inverrary located. They ethic Composition is 33.83% White(29.6% were Non Hispanic White,) 58.77% African American and Black (a large part from the Caribbean), 0.12% Native American, 1.58% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.61% from other races, and 4.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.94% of the population. and the Economic data is The median income for a household in the city was $32,515, and the median income for a family was $36,723. Males had a median income of $29,756 versus $25,167 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,243. About 15.5% of families and 17.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.0% of those under age 18 and 13.1% of those age 65 or over. Also the housing data is 22,810 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.4% were married couples living together, 20.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% were non-families. 31.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.12.
